Dr. María del Pilar Calva obtained her M.D. at the
Anahuac University in Mexico. She trained with Prof.
Jerome Lejeune at the Hospital des Enfants
Malades in Paris, France. Dr. Calva received her
certification on Cytogenetics from the Sorbonne
University in Paris in 1987, and received her Master
in Bioethics from the Anahuac University in 2005.
She currently teaches at the Bioethics Faculty and
Medicine School of Anahuac University, The John
Paul II Institute Sciences of Family and Marriage,
and the University of Dallas. She has lectured at
various national and international Congresses. Dr.
Calva has been a Member of the Pontifical Academy
for Life (2002), the Bioethics Council of the Mexican
Episcopal Commission for the Family (2004), the
Pan-American Society of Bioethics, the Mexican
Academy of Bioethics, the Regional Observatory for
Women in Latin America and the Caribe, and the
Mexican Association of Human Genetics. She is
married and has four children.
